The Vintage Lamb Mercantile – owner Melanie Morlan creates one of a kind uniquely crafted treasures. She upcycles and repurposes vintage wool, linen, leather & cashmere, to make many things like handbags, accessories, wire wrapped jewelry, aprons and so much more.

Hello, I’m Melanie—designer, artistic creator, dreamer, and entrepreneur. By daylight, I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist, but between sessions and on a few cherished days each week, I slip through a hidden doorway into my design world. The moment I enter, colors brighten, ideas flutter in like tiny birds, and the ordinary becomes enchanted.

Most evenings and weekends, you can find me wandering this creative realm: I’m forever dreaming up new pieces, following inspiration wherever it tugs. My French Canadian ancestry whispers old stories to me, and I stitch them into my work alongside natural fibers and textures borrowed from the world outdoors. Animals, forests, wild landscapes—all of them sit with me as I create.

My home and workshop is in a 1912 Miners Bungalow perched on the mountainside in Wallace, Idaho, surrounded by deep-green woods that seem to hum their own quiet magic. Up-cycling is at the heart of everything I make—I love giving forgotten materials a second life, turning scraps and remnants into treasures.

I started The Vintage Lamb Mercantile as a place for my creative voice to stretch its wings. Now I spend my time sharing my work at art shows and craft fairs throughout my corner of North America, meeting people who appreciate artisan creations.

But my dreams reach a bit further down the trail. I’m growing a sister company and nonprofit, the Miners Daughter Mercantile, designed to lift women in my community. Its mission is to nurture creativity and help women build financial confidence through textile arts and sustainable small-business ventures here in the Silver Valley.
