About
Silver Valley Sourdough is a small baking company operating in the heart of Wallace at the Elks Lodge kitchen. Quality ingredients and community are their core values. They use 100% organic flour, at least 60% grown and milled here in the northwest, and obtain additional ingredients as locally as possible. Moon Creek Farm in Kellogg, Silver Hills Homestead in Kingston, and Broken Barn Farm in Dalton Gardens are frequent suppliers for seasonal produce, herbs, mushrooms, jams, and more. Silver Valley Sourdough’s weekly rotation includes rustic, artisanal breads, using a variety of flavorful grains and inclusions. One can also order sourdough pastries, focaccia with toppings, sourdough bundt cakes, large orders of bread, and request special baked goods for gatherings.
JoHannah Branstetter, founder and head baker at SVS, bakes weekly to provide this community with fresh sourdough. It is available for pickup by regulars at the bread box outside the Wallace Elks Lodge on 5th St. You can also find their sourdough at The Beanery in Kellogg at the self-serve stand inside the coffee shop.
Silver Valley Sourdough partners with Silver Corner Bar every month to put on Little Treat Tuesday -an bar event at which guests are fed seasonal sourdough focaccia and dessert, paired with wine and cocktails. A “little treat” for locals in the middle of the week!
Silver Valley Sourdough does pop-ups at various summer markets and local establishments, including Music in the Park in Kellogg, Lake Village Farmer’s Market in Coeur d’Alene, and others. JoHannah occasionally teaches sourdough classes at Broken Barn Farm and at the Wallace Elks Lodge.
